Having an extensive background in real estate law, I thought I was well prepared in helping the new PlayLive Nation franchisees navigate the challenges of securing a lease in different markets. Despite my experience, this process threw countless unexpected curve balls my way.

Franchisors that are serious about developing additional revenue streams in their franchise will ultimately explore proprietary products. By creating new products either under the brand or as a stand-alone entity, franchisors can sell and distribute their own products to franchisees.

In October, California Governor Jerry Brown signed the strongest law for protecting franchisees in the nation. While California has been leading the efforts around regulating franchising since the 1970’s, this law moves the franchisee rights forward leaps and bounds compared to other measures.

PLAYLive has had an exciting year! As a part owner of this franchise, it’s very fun to watch the business continue to grow. While as a franchise there is still a long road ahead to sustainable profitability, we have a strong foundation going into 2016. This includes our current efforts to expand the franchise into other states.
