Google releases report about anti-piracy policies

The online content industry long has complained about Google's hands-off approach to copyright infringement and content piracy. Google recently produced a 25-page report defending its position regarding copyright infringement issues. The company hopes the report addresses the concerns of copyright holders in regard to the services offered by Google.

Tesco's California chains bought out

More than 150 of the 200 Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets locations operated by U.K.-based retailer Tesco are to be turned over to Yucaipa Companies. The 50 stores that were not transferred in the deal will be closed, meaning that the clock is ticking for three San Diego County locations and five Sacramento shops. A spokesperson said that a number of other stores could be closed in the San Diego area and that these locations will soon begin liquidating their stock at sale prices.

Time Warner - CBS dispute drags on

California residents who subscribe to Time Warner Cable may not be seeing CBS programming for a while. It has become increasingly common for cable companies and networks to enter into business litigation over fees that a network can charge a provider to broadcast their programming. California watching as oil giant BP rights EPA restrictions

BP may have been responsible for dumping more than 200 million gallons of oil into pristine waters in 2010, but the company is only now fighting its legal ramifications. California environmental activists and business litigation experts alike are watching closely as the company tries to counter a new Environmental Protection Agency ban stemming from the Gulf of Mexico disaster. BP is challenging a temporary moratorium against getting any new U.S. leases or government contracts for oil exploration.
